The Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy is headed by Prof Dr med Dr phil. Manfred Spitzer and has 69 beds on one protected and two open wards, a day clinic with 23 treatment places and three outpatient clinics. The university outpatient clinic offers special consultation hours (ADHD, trauma disorders) and can be used as a second opinion outpatient clinic. The psychiatric institute outpatient clinic provides outpatient care for severely or chronically ill patients who cannot be treated by the statutory health insurance scheme. The further training outpatient clinic of the Training and Further Training Institute for Behavioural Therapy and Applied Psychology (AWIP) offers guideline psychotherapy.

The entire spectrum of mental illnesses and disorders can be treated in the clinic. Complete diagnostics at the highest level are available at all times. The therapeutic approaches combine pharmacological, behavioural, psychosocial and other principles based on the current state of knowledge and applicable guidelines
