Medical-technical radiology assistant (MTRA)
This profession is a combination of social competences and technical skills. As an MTRA, you work with X-ray machines, CT, MRT... but above all with patients!
At which clinics are MTRAs employed?
The Clinic for Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, Radiotherapy and the dental clinics all employ MTRAs. We work with modern equipment and take on complex tasks - because Ulm University Hospital stands for cutting-edge medicine in patient care.

In this profession, you will deal with diagnostic procedures in various specialist areas. In addition to handling medical equipment and expertise in measurement procedures, one thing is particularly important: Good co-operation with patients!
At which clinics are MTAFs employed?
As employees who have trained as MTAFs can be deployed in many specialist areas, they are employed in several clinics at Ulm University Hospital. Find out more about our clinics, centres and institutes here.
Medical-technical laboratory assistant (MTLA)
As an MTLA, you basically deal with scientific issues, procedures and techniques. You will apply your knowledge both in the field of patient care and in research - diagnostics are usually carried out on test material, but possibly also directly on patients.
At which clinics and institutes are MTLAs employed?
In addition to the Clinical Chemistry Centre, we have other clinics and institutes with laboratories. You can find an overview here.
Physiotherapy
In physiotherapy, you deal with the patient's musculoskeletal system. Through targeted therapies for the functions and movements of the body, possibly using physical stimuli, you promote the patient's recovery.
Where do we employ physiotherapists?
Depending on the clinical picture or injury pattern, physiotherapy can be used in any clinic. This professional group is particularly common in the Clinic for Trauma, Hand, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and in the Clinic for Internal Medicine II.
Pharmaceutical Technical Assistant (PTA)
As a PTA, you will be responsible for the production, testing and dispensing of medicines at Ulm University Hospital. You will also be responsible for organisational tasks that arise in a pharmacy.
Where are PTAs employed?
Ulm University Hospital has its own pharmacy, which supplies patients during their stay with us. Pharmacy staff are therefore the point of contact for doctors and nursing staff at the hospital.
Dental assistant (ZFA)
Dental assistants have a wide range of tasks: they are the first point of contact when patients arrive, carry out preparations and assist with examinations and treatments and take on organisational tasks.
Where are ZFA employed?
There are four clinics in the field of dentistry at Ulm University Hospital that employ dental assistants:
Speech therapy
Speech therapists work with people who have problems with their voice, speech or language. Using targeted therapies, the aim is to improve our patients' ability to express themselves.
Where are speech therapists employed?
As a broad-based university hospital, therapists are deployed in many areas, including ear, nose and throat medicine. Here you can get an overview of our facilities.
Dietician
Dietitians deal with questions relating to nutrition, for example, they are involved in counselling patients.
