The Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy II (Günzburg) is a cooperation clinic of Ulm University Hospital with external sponsorship. This means that patient care is provided by the clinic's external provider, the Günzburg District Hospital.

The cooperation clinic is affiliated to the Clinic for Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Psychosomatics at the Günzburg District Hospital. The latter fulfils the care mandate for the districts of Günzburg, Neu-Ulm, Dillingen, Donau-Ries, Augsburg (north of the B 300) excluding the city of Augsburg, Gersthofen, Neusäß and Stadtbergen and the district of Aichach-Friedberg excluding Dasing, Friedberg, Kissing and Mering. It is a centre of excellence for people with mental illnesses, offering inpatient, day-night and outpatient treatment and care.

The Clinic for Psychiatry and Psychotherapy II employs doctors and staff from various professional groups (e.g. psychologists and sociologists, nurses, occupational therapists, movement therapists, curative education nurses, art therapists, music therapists).

The Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapy II is divided into five departments or functional areas: general psychiatry, addiction medicine, gerontopsychiatry and acute geriatrics, psychosomatic medicine and psychotherapy as well as the psychiatric-psychotherapeutic outpatient clinic with general psychiatric, psychotherapeutic, psychosocial, gerontopsychiatric (memory) and home consultation hours.

The Department of Psychotherapeutic Medicine/Psychosomatics is specially equipped for the diagnosis and psychotherapeutic treatment of psychoreactive and psychosomatic disorders, for example depressive crises, depressive developments, eating disorders, phobias and anxiety disorders, panic attacks, obsessive-compulsive disorders, so-called borderline disorders, psychologically induced paralyses or other psychogenic disorders, problems in connection with physical illnesses or post-traumatic stress disorders.
