Dear athletes, dear patients,
A sports medical check-up is important, especially if you want to start or intensify your sport or a new type of sport. The cardiovascular system, respiratory organs, metabolism and musculoskeletal system are examined in order to minimise health risks.
Some health insurance companies cover part of the costs of the sports medical examination. You can find an overview of the costs covered by health insurance companies here!

FAQ - Frequently asked questions
A sports medical examination is advisable for anyone who regularly takes part in sport or wants to start training. Professional, competitive and ambitious amateur athletes should have regular sports medical examinations to check their physical condition and performance. However, recreational athletes and people who want to maintain a healthy lifestyle can also benefit from a sports medical examination in order to prevent possible health risks
Even after serious illnesses, e.g. heart disease and cancer, there is often uncertainty about sporting activity. With our many years of expertise in this area, we will be happy to advise you individually on how to (re)start sport in such situations.
Many statutory health insurance companies subsidise or cover the costs of a sports medical examination as part of their supplementary benefits. In all other cases, we offer examinations on a self-pay basis. Talk to us!
In the case of illnesses or injuries, we are happy to work on referral. To make an appointment, please call 0731 500-45350 or 0731 500-45300.
Since we take a lot of time for the individual consultation and careful examination of our patients and athletes, we ask you to plan about 2.5 to 3 hours for your appointment with us.
Lactate is a product of the energy metabolism that is formed to a greater extent during high physical exertion. It can be used to objectively assess the intensity of exercise. Training zones for endurance training can be derived from this. We offer sport-specific diagnostics on the treadmill or cycle, rowing and hand power ergometers. The success of the training can also be assessed by means of a lactate test.
Whether a lactate test or another examination method (e.g. spiroergometry) is more suitable depends in particular on the question being asked and your state of health. We will be happy to discuss this in an individual consultation.
You can easily make an appointment by calling 0731 500-45350 or 0731 500-45310. If all lines are busy, you are welcome to send an e-mail to sport.medizin@uniklinik-ulm.de. You can also leave your telephone number here and we will call you back as soon as possible.
