Patients with tumours of the entire gastrointestinal tract are treated in the Gastroenterology-Oncology Outpatient Clinic at Ulm University Hospital, Department of Internal Medicine I. The Gastroenterological-Oncological Outpatient Clinic has been in existence for many years and is now one of the largest specialist outpatient clinics at the Department of Internal Medicine I.
The scope of the Gastroenterological Oncology Outpatient Clinic covers diagnosis and treatment from the initial diagnosis of a malignant disease of the gastrointestinal tract through to palliative care in the last phase of life.
It is important to us to treat patients with these complex and often stressful diagnoses in a highly professional interdisciplinary environment. The involvement of other disciplines such as psycho-oncology, pain therapy and other treatment partners is a matter of course.
All patients who come to us with newly diagnosed tumours are discussed as part of our gastrointestinal tumour board , so that we can offer a multidisciplinary, coordinated and optimal treatment concept for each patient.
For organisational reasons, an appointment can only be made by telephone in advance. For a first presentation, you must first register at the Central Admission Department of the Centre for Internal Medicine in the Medical Clinic at Oberer Eselsberg.
You will find the Central Admission Centre directly next to the main entrance of the clinic on level 2.

The treatment spectrum covers all benign diseases of the pancreas, whereby three groups of diseases in particular are subsumed: Acute or chronic pancreatitis, malformations and benign tumours of the pancreas. Of particular interest are cystic changes/tumours of the pancreas, which require optimised management due to increasing incidental diagnoses, as well as the various forms of chronic pancreatitis. In collaboration with the Department of Human Genetics, we also offer complete molecular diagnostics and genetic counselling for hereditary pancreatitis. Prof Dr Kleger will be happy to answer any consultation questions you may have. For further details we would like to refer you to the homepage of the Section for Interdisciplinary Pancreatology and the Institute of Molecular Oncology and Stem Cell Biology.
If you have any further questions about pancreatic diseases, you can contact us at any time. You will find us in lift area A, level 1 of the Clinic for Internal Medicine.
Yours sincerely,
Prof Dr Alexander Kleger
In cooperation with the Clinic for General and Visceral Surgery at our hospital, we offer you the opportunity to discuss questions relating to gastrointestinal oncology directly with a GI oncologist and a visceral surgeon in our interdisciplinary visceral oncology consultation (ViOn) and thus receive direct advice from different perspectives.

Further information on the treatment focus
Patients with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis of all degrees of severity are treated in the specialised outpatient clinic for chronic inflammatory bowel diseases. A team of doctors and nurses experienced in the treatment of chronic inflammatory bowel diseases will look after you. All approved treatment options are available to our patients. Intravenous "biological" therapies are carried out in a separate infusion unit. In addition, we offer new therapeutic approaches as part of clinical trials for patients for whom conventional therapy has failed or is not an option. Necessary sonography and endoscopic examinations (e.g. colonoscopy) are carried out in our own department. If necessary, specialists from rheumatology and dermatology are available for consultation; here we work closely with the Department of Internal Medicine III and Dermatology. Patients with perianal involvement in Crohn's disease are cared for in close cooperation with the proctological consultation hours of the Clinic for Visceral Surgery, and there is also close cooperation with colleagues from the Clinic for Diagnostic Radiology for X-ray and MRI examinations (e.g. MRI fistula basin). This means that we can offer you high-quality care "from a single source" from the initial diagnosis to complicated, "fully treated" cases and are happy to work closely with your family doctor or attending gastroenterologist. Dr Klaus and Dr Müller are available for consultation enquiries. For further details, we would like to refer you to the homepage of our "Chronic Inflammatory Bowel Disease Working Group".
If you have any further questions about chronic inflammatory bowel diseases, you can contact us at any time. You will find us in Extract Area A, Level 1 of the Clinic for Internal Medicine.
Kind regards,
PD Dr Jochen Klaus
