The self-awareness training is completed as a group or individual self-awareness training (proportion of individual self-awareness training at least 30 hours), which must be organised by the trainee. The AZVT provides a list of current self-awareness trainers for this purpose.

  • Theoretical training (600 hours)

The theoretical training is carried out in two different "formats". A total of at least 600 hours are held as weekend events. The weekend courses usually take place on Fridays from 4.00 - 8.00 pm and Saturdays from 8.30 - 6.15 pm (15 teaching units of 45 minutes each).

In addition to this, additional theory courses are offered during the week as part of general clinic events. The theoretical teaching programme is supplemented by special events (e.g. symposia, special seminars, child psychiatric and psychiatric colloquia).

Costs and fees

For training to become a child and adolescent psychotherapist at the AZVT Ulm, participants are generally charged monthly training fees.

These fees cover all teaching events including teaching materials, lecturer fees, administrative and organisational costs, individual pre- and re-registration meetings and internal examination fees.

There are also costs for self-awareness and supervision. The billing of supervision and self-awareness is regulated by mutual agreement between the supervisor or self-awareness trainer and the training candidates within the framework of the fees specified by the AZVT.

The time and location for self-awareness and supervision are also regulated by mutual agreement between the supervisor or self-awareness trainer and the training participant.

In general, training participants are not entitled to remuneration for practical work. However, if PT1 and/or PT2 are completed at Ulm University Hospital, training participants will receive remuneration in accordance with the applicable collective agreement.

The training therapies within the AZVT outpatient clinic or co-operating outpatient clinics are financed by invoicing the individual services. After deduction of the administrative costs, the training candidates receive a performance-related remuneration for the services they provide (share of the proceeds for the psychotherapeutic treatments). This makes it possible to organise the overall costs of training in a cost-effective manner.

More detailed regulations on remuneration during training can be found in the AZVT fee schedule.

The AZVT training programme is eligible for BAFÖG funding.
