Dysplasia refers to various cell changes in the internal and external genitalia. They are often caused by human papillomaviruses (HPV). You can come to our dysplasia consultation for further clarification and treatment of the pathological cell changes that are usually discovered by your gynaecologist during a preventive examination. In addition to excellent medical care, it is particularly important to us to alleviate any worries or fears our patients may have through comprehensive counselling. Careful diagnostics and gentle treatment allow any precancerous stages to be removed safely and gently. The one-stop treatment concept is guaranteed by our own cytology laboratory in the field of diagnostics and by experienced surgeons from the Gynaecological Tumour Centre.

Diagnostics and therapy
The visit to our consultation begins with an introduction to your medical history. We then examine the abnormal findings after colouring them with a magnifying glass (colposcope) and, if necessary, take a small tissue sample (biopsy). After the histological examination of this sample in our pathology department, we will discuss the results with you and then determine the further course of treatment. In addition to medication, superficial treatments with vinegar, laser therapy and surgical procedures are also available for further treatment.
Our surgical spectrum ranges, adapted to the individual situation of each patient, from a small cone incision (conisation) performed under local anaesthetic to regional sampling and laparoscopy with lymph node removal or, if necessary, radical tumour surgery. If abnormal sections of the cervix are found, further diagnosis is possible by means of a tissue-saving cone incision. If the abnormal area is completely removed, this step also represents the treatment. In young women in particular, the procedure is very tissue-sparing with regard to possible family planning. In order to minimise the adverse effects of the operation as much as possible, we very often perform the procedure on an outpatient basis and under local anaesthetic.
If you are diagnosed with a precancerous stage during pregnancy, we will provide you with expert care throughout your pregnancy. As a rule, treatment can be delayed until after the birth without any negative consequences for mother and child.
