Stop the violence within you!

Very few people who suffer from a mental illness are prone to violence. People with psychosis live in their own world. They hear voices, have delusions or feel persecuted - and some of them then become violent.
They need specialised help. Treatment by general practitioners and specialists is important, but is often not enough. This is why the prevention centre at
Bezirkskliniken Schwaben offers additional treatment options.
Our goal: preventing criminal offences
The aim of treatment at the Prevention Centre is to prevent mentally ill patients with a risk profile from committing criminal offences that would result in prolonged treatment in a psychiatric hospital. At the same time, the work of the prevention centre protects potential victims.
There is close co-operation with the general psychiatry department of the Günzburg district hospital, psychiatrists in private practice and general practitioners. On the professional advice of
or in response to queries from relatives, the risk potential of each patient is assessed. If there is an increased risk potential, the patient can participate in the treatment offered by the prevention centre. Relatives of affected patients can also be supported by the prevention centre and included in the therapy.
Under the motto "Stop the violence in you", a qualified team looks after patients with a risk profile. This risk profile is created using scientific methods as part of detailed discussions and examinations.
