Our clinic covers all diagnostic and therapeutic options in the field of typical and frequently occurring ear, nose and throat diseases.
Ear, nose and throat diseases occur equally in all age groups and have no gender prevalence. Head and neck complaints affect a large proportion of the general population, at least in certain phases, making ENT specialists one of the most frequently visited specialists. The range of illnesses covers a broad spectrum and patients of all ages:
Infants and pre-school children very often suffer from symptoms associated with enlarged tonsils (commonly known as "adenoids"), such as snoring, increased mouth breathing, delayed speech development or frequent middle ear infections. Furthermore, many congenital changes such as malformations of lymphatic or blood vessels in the swallowing duct or throat region become apparent in childhood. In our paediatric consultation, you and your child will have the opportunity to have a child-friendly and structured ENT examination as well as the necessary space to ask your questions and receive detailed advice. Specific hearing examinations are often necessary, which exceed the range of possibilities offered by an ENT doctor's surgery. Whether a child has a relevant speech development or general developmental delay that requires special, individual support can be further clarified in our section for phoniatrics and paediatric audiology. Children are always welcome as patients and we endeavour to respond to the individual needs of our young patients.
At an older age, patients are often confronted with completely different complaints that are caused by a restriction in the function of the sensory organs. These can include taste, smell and swallowing disorders as well as hearing disorders. In addition to finding the cause using modern diagnostic procedures and close cooperation with other specialist departments (radiology, urology, gynaecology, dermatology, neurology), we are of course keen to develop a suitable therapy concept, which is ideally tailored to each individual patient. If necessary, we offer the prescription of medication and supportive procedures, such as swallowing and speech training, as well as technical aids such as hearing aids. After prescribing a hearing aid, we will, if you wish, check the quality of the aid and regularly check your device in cooperation with your acoustician. In the case of more complex hearing disorders or if a conventional hearing aid can no longer provide relief, it is advisable to attend our hearing-impaired consultation on Wednesdays.
Depending on the time of year and the associated climatic and environmental factors, allergic complaints as well as (severe courses of) colds such as sinusitis are among the most frequently reported problems. In principle, we can identify all common allergens that can lead to typical symptoms such as watery and itchy eyes, increased nasal secretions or obstructed nasal breathing and suggest a suitable treatment. If several allergies are present and a very detailed allergy consultation is required, we recommend a consultation in our allergy consultation hour held twice a week in the ENT diagnostics rooms.
Irrespective of age, diseases in the ENT area can occur suddenly and be perceived as subjectively threatening. For example, earache, sudden hearing loss, tinnitus or acute dizziness can lead to considerable impairment. We treat these illnesses in our outpatient consultation hours, but also as part of our emergency service, as well as severe nosebleeds or inflammatory diseases such as tonsillitis, salivary gland or cervical lymph node inflammation.
Diseases associated with inflammation in the head and neck area in particular can occur out of the blue and significantly impair general well-being.
Our 24-hour emergency service is available to provide you with advice and assistance in ENT-specific emergencies.
