Our clinic offers comprehensive functional diagnostics in the ear, nose and throat area. After the medical examination, special instrumental examinations are carried out here for hearing loss, dizziness, nasal diseases, allergies and diseases of the throat organs.
If you are sent from the outpatient clinic to the diagnostics department, you can take a seat in the waiting area without having to register, as you have already registered digitally. After a short wait, the diagnostics staff will automatically call you to the various examination rooms.
Once the examinations are complete, you can return to the outpatient clinic to report to the control centre.
If nocturnal breathing pauses and sleep breathing disorders are suspected, a detailed examination will be carried out in our sleep laboratory.

Ultrasound diagnostics

With the help of modern sonography equipment, a prompt, reliable, precise and radiation-free examination of the head and neck area can be carried out. This technique is used as standard in our clinic to assess the anatomical structures of the head and neck area, including the floor of the mouth, salivary glands, blood vessels, lymph nodes, the thyroid gland and benign and malignant tumours. In addition, ultrasound-guided punctures can be carried out to determine the dignity of tumours, enabling rapid diagnosis and initiation of targeted therapy.

Colour Doppler and CW Doppler examinations allow an exact representation of the blood flow situation, which is often of great importance for further treatment planning.

Allergology

More than a quarter of the population of industrialised countries suffers from allergic diseases. These often manifest themselves in the form of the well-known "hay fever", seasonal allergic rhinoconjunctivitis.
At the same time, however, an allergy can also lead to year-round allergic symptoms, which manifest themselves, for example, in obstructed nasal breathing.
We offer standard allergy diagnostics by means of a skin test (prick test) as well as further diagnostics in the form of precise blood tests for specific IgE antibodies (RAST) and conjunctival and nasal provocation tests.
This detailed testing allows us to draw up an individual treatment plan including personalised hyposensitisation (subcutaneous immunotherapy).

Diagnostics for diseases of the nose

In addition to allergies, there are numerous other causes of nasal complaints, such as anatomical ones. Rhinomanometry can be used to determine the exact airflow in the nose and thus possible anatomical constrictions. Acoustic rhinometry can also objectify a subjective obstruction to nasal breathing. We also offer precise olfactory and taste testing.

Audiometry

Modern audiometry devices make it possible to precisely determine the hearing curve, speech comprehension, the ability of the eardrums to vibrate and the presence of reflexes specific to the middle ear. In addition, a functional test of the auditory nerve can be carried out.
All these examinations enable a precise diagnosis of hearing disorders and the initiation of suitable conservative or surgical treatment.

Specialised hearing diagnostics can also be carried out on our young patients who cannot yet undergo an adult hearing test.

Neurootology

Various functional diagnostic examinations are available to us to clarify complaints of vertigo. The primary aim is to confirm or rule out common causes of dizziness in the ear, nose and throat area such as neuropathiavestibularis, Menière's disease, benign paroxysmal positional vertigo or involvement of the vestibular organ in middle, inner ear or hearing disorders.
In addition to routine clinical tests for spontaneous jerky eye movements (nystagmus), complex examinations such as ear irrigation, swivel chair examinations and the recording of specific muscle-evoked potentials are carried out to check the vestibular system. This allows the cause of the dizziness to be localised precisely and the treatment strategy to be determined.
