1. PROPAEDEUTIC SEMESTER HUMAN MEDICINE

1.2 Urology exam
The urology exam takes place at the end of the propaedeutic semester. The exam consists of 20 multiple-choice questions.
The maximum score is 20 points and the pass mark is 60%.
If you fail the exam, you must retake it (subject to the deadlines).
2. BLOCK SEMESTER HUMAN MEDICINE
2.1 General information
One-week block internship, organised by the Dean of Studies.
Meeting point: UKU: Monday at 7.50 a.m. in the urology conference room (room 2.391)
BWK: Monday 7.30 a.m. Urology ward
Duration of the block internship: daily from 7:00 a.m. (except Monday) to approx. 4:00 p.m.
Prerequisite: The theoretical knowledge from the lecture.
You will need: Smock, motivation.
Grading of the work done at the end of the practical week.
Graded are: History taking, patient presentation, elaboration and presentation of the clinical picture, co-operation in clinical routine
Grades: Very good - Poor
2.2 Objective/procedure of the internship
Introduction to the subject of urology by visiting the urological functional areas such as sonography, operating theatre, EWSL, urodynamics; learning digital rectal examination and catheterisation, visiting the outpatient clinic and paediatric urology consultation, seminars, taking medical histories, presenting cases.
Sonography
Demonstration of urological sonography as part of the daily admission and check-up examination. Learning urological sonography as part of a seminar.
OPERATING THEATRE
Assistance with urological incision operations. Endoscopic procedures can be followed on a screen.
ESWL (extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy)
Attendance during ESWL treatment. An essential part of this is the review of X-ray images with the respective doctor.
Urodynamics
Attendance at a urodynamic examination. Prior knowledge of the various forms of incontinence is a prerequisite
Rectal examination
Learning about digital rectal examination (DRU) in theory and practice.
Catheter course
Professional examination of the external male genitalia. Correct placement of a transurethral catheter.
Outpatient clinic / paediatric urology consultation
1-2 students can accompany the responsible assistant in his work.
Seminars
Short seminars with the following topics:
Catheter course
Sonography in urology
Urological clinical pictures: Case discussions
Case demonstration
Each student chooses an inpatient during the practical week. During the oral examination at the end of the week, the course of the hospitalisation is to be presented and the clinical picture discussed.
2.3 Awarding of certificates
The certificate is graded.
The grade is made up of the results of the written examination and the block practical.
