Courses and student teaching
We are delighted that you are interested in the subject of radiotherapy. During your training period, we would like to provide you with a wide range of insights into all aspects of radiotherapy and actively involve you in the treatment and care of our patients.
Dissertations
Ulm University Hospital is the largest research-orientated clinic in the Ulm-Lake Constance region. The field of radiotherapy offers a wide range of opportunities for scientific projects. We are very interested in offering doctoral theses to colleagues after they have completed their final year. The spectrum ranges from retrospective to prospective clinical work. One of our main areas of research is the treatment of prostate carcinoma. Of course, we also offer doctoral theses for other entities.
Are you interested and looking for a doctoral thesis? Then we look forward to receiving your application. If you are interested or have any questions, please contact us. Please contact PD Dr Scharl or Prof Wiegel.
Clinical traineeships
Colleagues who are studying in the clinical section after the Physikum are cordially invited to take part in clinical traineeships at the Department of Radiotherapy. The aim is to give them an initial insight into the field of radiation oncology and radiotherapy.
As a rule, clinical traineeships are divided equally between the ward and the outpatient therapy area. The duration of the clinical traineeship is usually 2-4 weeks. During your clinical traineeship in the outpatient area, you will be accompanied by medical colleagues and experience the daily routines on the various radiotherapy wards, so that you can gain a realistic impression of one of the most interesting subjects in clinical medicine. You will also have the opportunity to take part in interdisciplinary conferences and further training events at the clinic.
If you are interested in a clinical traineeship in radiotherapy or if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us! If you have any questions, please contact Dr Thamm or Prof Wiegel. We look forward to receiving your application.
Practical year
After completing the theoretical part of their studies, we are happy to train students in the practical year (radiotherapy elective) to deepen the knowledge they have acquired. During this year, you will receive a structured, wide-ranging training programme. We offer you an insight into all areas of radiotherapy, including diagnostics (CT, MRI, PET-CT), radiotherapy planning, working in our outpatient clinics, intraoperative radiotherapy, whole-body radiotherapy, brachytherapy and inpatient care. Experience can be gained in both the inpatient and outpatient areas.
The colleagues in the PJ are assigned to medical staff who are responsible for intensive supervision during the rotations.
If you have any questions or are interested, please contact Dr Thamm or Prof Wiegel.
General courses
Radiotherapy is involved in the lecture in the cross-sectional subject Q11. The lecture slides are available on the website of the Department of Radiotherapy and Radiation Oncology for a period of two weeks.
The script of the Clinic for Radiotherapy serves to prepare students for the exam in the cross-sectional subject Q11. It provides a brief but concise overview of theoretical and clinical radiotherapy.
You are cordially invited to participate in our courses and internal training programmes.
Student teaching
During the "Radiotherapy" block practical course, we will give you an insight into the various therapeutic areas of radiation oncology and introduce you to the exciting clinical and practical everyday life of this multifaceted subject.
