Combined radiochemotherapy
In order to treat the tumour more effectively, a combination of radiotherapy and chemotherapy is used for the following tumours
- Tumours of the head and neck area
- Tumours of the airways and lungs
- Tumours of the oesophagus
- Tumours of the cervix (cervical carcinoma)
- Tumours of the rectum (rectal carcinoma)
- Tumours of the anus to avoid an operation with an artificial outlet
Chemotherapy is usually administered at fixed intervals during a series of radiotherapy treatments. The intensity of this treatment may require hospitalisation.
