Since 2011, we have been offering our patients in the Alb-Donau district radiotherapy treatment at the outstation at Ehingen Hospital. It is under the professional direction of Prof. Dr Thomas Wiegel, Medical Director of the Clinic for Radiotherapy and Radiooncology at Ulm University Hospital.
The branch of the university outpatient clinic has university-trained staff and is equipped with a state-of-the-art linear accelerator to ensure the best possible radio-oncological treatment currently available. As at Ulm University Hospital, the modern Rapid Arc technology is used in Ehingen, which enables high-precision, efficient and gentle intensity-modulated radiotherapy with a significantly shorter radiation time. In addition, the linear accelerator has an integrated computer tomograph for "image-guided radiotherapy" (IGRT). This significantly reduces the co-irradiation of healthy normal tissue compared to conventional methods.

The treatment of patients on site in Ehingen is individualised and coordinated in cooperation between Ulm University Hospital and the local treatment partners at Ehingen District Hospital as well as specialist colleagues in private practice. In joint tumour conferences on site in Ehingen, but also at the interdisciplinary "Comprehensive Cancer Center" at Ulm University Hospital (CCCU), which is extensively funded as a top centre of German Cancer Aid, the best possible therapy is currently determined and carried out for the patients under optimal radiotherapeutic conditions.
