The MR examination serves to answer a total of three questions. Firstly, cardiac function is examined in the form of fast moving images of the heartbeat. Secondly, muscle perfusion and thus the risk of infarction is examined using a contrast agent. Finally, 5 - 10 minutes after the contrast agent has been administered, special images are used to check whether heart attack scars are already present and, if so, how large they are.
The MR examination is very complex and involves a long examination time of up to 1 hour. We therefore ask you to make an appointment in good time. No special preparation for the examination is required. If you are scheduled for a blood flow examination, please do not drink coffee, tea or caffeinated drinks on the day of the examination. The examinations will be carried out either at Michelsberg or Oberer Eselsberg.
