As a regional competence centre, we fulfil the mandate to treat people with mental illness and - in cooperation with other support facilities - take responsibility for their treatment and for promoting the mental health of people in the region of northern and central Swabia. Over 300 full inpatient treatment places are available for this purpose, as well as a home treatment team (outreach treatment at home) and a large psychiatric outpatient clinic (PIA). The entire spectrum of mental illnesses is treated. In addition to open and protective general psychiatric wards, there are also specialised wards for affective disorders, addiction, schizophrenia (including early intervention) and geriatric psychiatry, as well as a psychotherapy ward with a focus on anxiety, obsessive-compulsive and personality disorders. In addition to a wide range of diagnostic options, special therapeutic interventions such as electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) are also available.
Mentally ill people and their relatives are at the centre of attention. Scientifically sound treatment methods open up a wide range of therapeutic options based on dialogue with patients. We take symptoms seriously, strengthen patients' resources and abilities and support them in coping with their illness. As a result of integrated treatment with continuity of care and networking of medical and social support, we strive to improve the quality of life of mentally ill people and their relatives. To this end, a team of doctors, psychologists, nurses, social workers and specialised therapists work closely together on each ward. There is a wide range of specialised therapies such as movement therapy, art therapy, music therapy, occupational therapy and job coaching.
Allowance: You will receive 649 euros / month.

The size of the clinic and the wide range of treatments allow numerous insights into psychiatric diagnostics and therapy. The combination of a large care clinic and a university mission offers many opportunities:
- Work on open and protective wards in various areas (e.g. addiction, geriatric psychiatry and general psychiatry during the course of the tertial)
- Participation in all ward-related processes as well as the opportunity to make home visits with home treatment, work in the outpatient clinic (PIA), participation in therapeutic groups and individual consultations, visits to specialised therapies and social services, participation in special therapy procedures
- Participation in (neuro)psychological testing and diagnostics
- Increasingly independent work with patients under supervision over the course of the programme
- Supervision including mini-exams in preparation for the practical part of the state examination by the PJ representatives
- Participation in all further training programmes at the clinic (balint group, psychotherapeutic supervision, specialist curriculum, scientific lectures) lectures)
- If interested, insight into research fields such as health services research, meta-analyses, health economics, public mental health, stigma, geriatric psychiatry or psychiatry and literature
- Good knowledge of psychopathology/assessment
- Good knowledge of differential diagnostics (also in co-operation with the other neuroscientific disciplines well represented in Günzburg)
- Good knowledge of psychopharmacotherapy
- Basic knowledge of cognitive behavioural therapy
- Basic knowledge of sociotherapy
