Anyone who is affected by illness or the loss of a loved one, either themselves or in their family, often needs help to find new perspectives in life with the help of others who are equally affected.

Self-help centre KORN e.V.

The staff at the KORN self- help office can put you in touch with over 200 self-help groups and professional help centres in the Ulm/Neu-Ulm region. They support people who want to set up a new self-help group and advise groups on organisational issues and difficult group situations. They promote joint information and training events for self-help groups. The self-help office KORN e.V. helps with this:

KORN e.V. is financed and supported by Ulm University Hospital, Ulm University, the cities of Ulm and Neu-Ulm, the surrounding districts, the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Social Affairs and the statutory health insurance funds in Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria.

The self-help organisation KORN e.V. was founded in 1989 in the Department of Medical Sociology at the University of Ulm. The organisation has been registered as an association and recognised as a non-profit organisation since 1996. Today, the KORN e.V. self-help office is part of the University Clinic for Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy, which is headed by Prof Dr Harald Gündel. There is a co-operation agreement with the University of Ulm.

Special services for cancer patients

The diagnosis of "cancer" often hits those affected and their relatives quite suddenly and they initially feel powerless and helpless. Many questions arise and you would like to talk to other people affected.

Have the courage to face up to the disease and take advantage of the support offered by self-help groups. After all, talking to other sufferers is a useful and necessary addition that can make it easier to deal with the disease.
