The paediatric nephrology outpatient clinic treats children/adolescents of all ages with kidney and urinary tract diseases.

With regard to the care of children with congenital diseases of the urinary tract and bladder dysfunction, there is close cooperation with paediatric radiology, nuclear medicine, paediatric urology and paediatric surgery (- LINK paediatric urology and paediatric surgery).

Immunological diseases are treated in close cooperation with our paediatric immunology and paediatric rheumatology departments (LINKs).

If necessary, the aim is to see the children together with the necessary other disciplines. There are joint consultation hours and conferences for all collaborations.

Children with acute kidney failure can be dialysed in our interdisciplinary intensive care unit. Peritoneal dialysis as well as all forms of haemodialysis/haemodiafiltration/plasma separation/immune adsorption can be carried out in all age groups.

We treat patients with the following clinical pictures:

• Nephrotic syndrome
• Glomerulopathies
• Tubulopathies
• Lupus nephritis
• Cystic kidneys
• Renal hypoplasia and renal dysplasia
• Malformations of the urinary tract
• Haemolytic uraemic syndrome
• Urinary tract infections and bladder dysfunction
• Kidney-related high blood pressure in childhood
• Chronic kidney failure (if necessary with preparation for a kidney transplant)
• Transplant aftercare
• Rare immunological disease involving the kidney

Examinations and measures such as

• Kidney biopsies
• Renal scintigrams
• Micturating cysturography / micturating cyst sonography
• Magnetic resonance imaging

are carried out on an outpatient/inpatient and day-case basis.

We ask referring physicians to complete our initial registration form and fax it to us so that we can coordinate the necessary examinations and assess the urgency.
