The course of the inpatient stay varies individually and depends on the operation performed and the time of the operation. For example, a distinction must be made between surgery on the day of admission and intraocular surgery. You are welcome to discuss the procedure that applies to you with our staff during the outpatient examination appointment or during the admission examination.
Below you can see the standard, regular procedure for an inpatient operation.
Day 1: Admission between 08:00 and 09:00 with re-evaluation and completion of outstanding examinations, e.g. presentation to anaesthetist to discuss the form of anaesthesia - if not already done. For this purpose, we ask you to bring current preliminary findings (from the last 6 months) from your family doctor or other specialists, as well as current laboratory values (if available). If special examinations are pending or results are not available, the inpatient stay may be extended or may have to be postponed.
Day 2: Operation
Day 3: first post-operative examination. Depending on the operation performed, discharge may be possible by around 11 a.m., depending on the results of the operation. The length of the inpatient stay may vary depending on the operation and postoperative findings. Please enquire on admission about the expected duration of inpatient treatment in your case.
