Diabetic retinopathy

Diabetic retinopathy (diabetic retinal disease) is one of the most common secondary diseases of diabetes and is the most common cause of blindness of working age in western industrialised countries.

In recent decades, considerable progress has been made in the treatment of diabetic retinopathy, making it possible to treat eyes that were considered irreversibly damaged in the recent past. Early detection and regular checks of the ocular fundus by an ophthalmologist are therefore essential.

We offer the full range of treatments for diabetic retinopathy:

  • intravitreal surgical drug administration
  • retinal laser therapy
  • modern vitreous surgery (vitrectomy)

Appointments can be made by e-mail (service.augenklinik@uniklinik-ulm.de).
