As the largest tumour centre in the region, we treat all forms of malignant diseases in the head and neck area according to the latest diagnostic and therapeutic standards.
The most common malignant diseases in the head and neck area are squamous cell carcinomas of the upper respiratory and alimentary tract. Treatment requires a highly specialised team of doctors from various medical disciplines and a great deal of expertise in tumour treatment - both of which are offered by the ENT Clinic at Ulm University Hospital.
As part of the oncological centre in the "Comprehensive Cancer Centre Ulm" (CCCU), the ENT Clinic at Ulm University Hospital is certified as a head and neck tumour centre according to the criteria of the German Cancer Society (DKG).
All therapies follow recognised quality standards and are constantly updated in line with the latest research. The special features of each individual patient are taken into account. Patients and their relatives are generally present during the tumour conference and have the opportunity to discuss treatment planning with the medical experts from radiotherapy, ENT surgery, internal medicine, radiology and pathology.
Treatment in a specialist, supra-regional, certified centre offers decisive advantages:
- Treatment decisions are made on an interdisciplinary basis, i.e. jointly by specialised doctors from all necessary disciplines in a weekly conference in accordance with the latest and most up-to-date guidelines.
- Having treated a large number of different tumour diseases, we have a wealth of experience gained over many years.
- In a maximum-care facility such as Ulm University Hospital, all medical disciplines are available to you, and if you have health problems in other specialist areas, you can call on the help of an appropriate specialist at any time.
- Participation in clinical studies, some of which are conducted internationally, in which the latest drug and surgical therapy concepts are applied and monitored, may open up the latest therapies to you, which will only be established as standard therapy in a few years and thus made accessible to a larger group of patients.
- The ENT Clinic not only has its own operating theatre with four modern operating theatres, but also its own in-house intensive care unit. Highly specialised care is therefore guaranteed around the clock by ENT doctors and anaesthetists
- We offer you the option of specialist and careful aftercare as part of regular follow-up appointments in our oncological consultation hours and also provide a platform for clarifying your questions and help with disease-related complaints. We also take care of scheduling and/or prescribing any necessary additional examinations and therapies (CT and MRI diagnostics, swallowing training, physiotherapy and manual lymphatic drainage)
