Forensic genetics

Accredited parentage investigation

We offer parentage analyses for both courts and private clients.

In accordance with the "Guidelines of the Genetic Diagnostics Commission (GEKO) for the requirements for the performance of genetic analyses to clarify parentage and for the qualification of medical and non-medical experts in accordance with § 23 Para. 2 No. 4 and No. 2b GenDG", the sample of the child's mother must always be included in the case of a paternity report in order to ensure improved identity assurance of the child's genetic sample and also to guarantee a significantly higher certainty of results with regard to the recognisable exclusion constellations compared to the duo case. Therefore, we do not offer a discounted testing option for the sole testing of e.g. putative father and child.

The costs for a privately commissioned parentage test in a tercet case (child, child's mother and putative father) are approx.€ 452.56, provided that the samples are taken at our institute here, i.e. all samples are taken at our institute in Ulm. For each additional person, i.e. each additional child, for example, an additional € 120.00 will be charged.

If the journey is too far for one of the participants, we can organise a sample collection via a nearby health authority. However, please note that if samples are taken by another authority, additional costs may be incurred, which you as the client will also have to bear. Unfortunately, we cannot say in advance how high the additional costs will be
, as this can vary from authority to authority.

The following also applies: Additional costs will be incurred for any additional work required for special materials, e.g. bones.

For the sake of simplicity, we recommend having all samples taken at our institute. The expert report will be issued within 2 to 4 weeks after receipt of the sample and payment.

Samples are taken at the

University Hospital Ulm
Institute of Forensic Medicine
Department DNA Laboratory - Building M23 (5th floor)
Albert-Einstein-Allee 23
89081 Ulm

takes place.

Swabs of the oral mucosa are taken in our institute.
