Our departments cover the entire field of forensic medicine with their range of services

 

The tasks of the Institute of Forensic Medicine include university teaching and research as well as forensic medical care in the region.

Forensic medicine is responsible for court-ordered post-mortems, life examinations, crime scene work and blood sample distribution analyses.

Forensic toxicology/chemistry analyses blood and urine samples for alcohol, drugs and medication. Analyses and content determinations of drug samples are also carried out.

Furthermore, the forensic genetics / DNA laboratory deals with individualising examinations for the purpose of assigning trace material found at the crime scene to individual persons as well as carrying out parentage assessments (paternity tests).

The Institute of Forensic Medicine is accredited in accordance with DIN EN ISO 17025:2018. Annex to the permanent accreditation certificate and annex to the temporary accreditation certificate.
