Forensic medicine
Range of services
The Department of Forensic Medicine is primarily concerned with the physical examination of living and deceased persons in matters of judicial/criminal relevance. In the field of clinical forensic medicine, these are examinations of criminals and victims of criminal offences as well as persons with traffic offences. As an essential sub-area of classical forensic medicine, autopsies are carried out at the Institute as well as on-site assessments of crime scenes and corpses found. The Institute offers expertise in forensic bloodstain pattern distribution analysis, forensic biomechanics and the assessment of the use of non-lethal agents as specialist areas of forensic medicine.
Private autopsies are not carried out at the Institute of Forensic Medicine Ulm.
