Paediatric ward

Children up to the age of 14 who require inpatient treatment are cared for on our paediatric ward. The paediatric ward offers 12 treatment places and round-the-clock care. In principle, all paediatric psychiatric disorders can be treated here, including crisis interventions in the event of acute danger to self or others. If necessary, children can also be accommodated in a closed ward (optional closed ward).

Patients first undergo a diagnostic phase in which a detailed medical and psychological assessment is carried out. This is followed by the creation of a treatment plan, which is agreed with the patients and their legal guardians. The focus of treatment is on psychotherapeutic and educational interventions, which can be supplemented by pharmacological interventions and other therapeutic measures if necessary. The treatment concept is individually tailored to the patient, with the option of music therapy, occupational or physiotherapy and video interaction training as required. The constant milieu therapy support provided by the nursing and education service ensures that the psychotherapeutic interventions are also implemented in everyday ward life. During the inpatient stay, schooling usually takes place in the hospital school, but a visit to the home school can also be useful and part of the treatment concept under certain circumstances.

Care on the paediatric ward is provided around the clock. As part of the treatment, stress tests are usually carried out in the familiar environment from the second weekend onwards in order to enable the transfer of therapy content into the children's everyday lives. Every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon, parents and relatives have the opportunity to visit their children for joint activities. The participation of carers in family discussions and parent training is very important to us and is an important part of treatment. Before a planned admission, there is usually a preliminary meeting to get to know each other. If there is an acute need for child and adolescent psychiatric treatment, emergency admission is possible.

Youth station 1

Adolescent ward 1 offers 8 treatment places for adolescents from the age of 14. In individual cases, adolescents up to the age of 21 can also be admitted. All adolescent psychiatric disorders can be treated here. It is also possible to treat adolescents with behaviour that is dangerous to themselves or others.

Before an individual treatment plan is drawn up with the patients, a detailed adolescent psychiatric, medical and psychological diagnosis is carried out. The multimodal treatment concept of adolescent ward 1 includes psychotherapy, family discussions, group therapies, milieu therapy and supplementary forms of therapy (music therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, work therapy, animal-assisted therapy). If necessary, pharmacological treatment is also provided. Custodians and carers are involved in family discussions. During the inpatient stay, schooling usually takes place in the hospital school, but a visit to the home school can also be useful and part of the treatment concept under certain circumstances.

Youth station 2

Adolescent ward 2 offers inpatient and day-care treatment for adolescents aged 14 and over. This service is open to all adolescents with a child or adolescent psychiatric disorder who wish to undergo inpatient or day-care treatment voluntarily. Adolescents with acute, self-endangering or other-endangering behaviour cannot be treated in adolescent ward 2.

Before an individual treatment plan is drawn up with the patient, a detailed adolescent psychiatric, medical and psychological diagnosis is carried out. Treatment focuses on psychotherapeutic, educational and milieu-therapeutic interventions. Further therapeutic interventions are also provided on an individual basis as required. These include occupational therapy, music therapy, occupational therapy and, if necessary, pharmacotherapy. During the inpatient stay, schooling is usually initially provided in the hospital school; a visit to the home school during the course of treatment is often useful and part of the treatment concept.

Adolescent ward 2 comprises an inpatient and a day-care unit. While the adolescents in the inpatient area also stay overnight in the clinic and are cared for around the clock, the day-care treatment takes place from Monday to Friday from 7 am to 6 pm. As part of full inpatient treatment, stress tests are usually carried out at weekends in the adolescents' familiar environment to enable the transfer of therapy content into their everyday lives. Every Thursday afternoon, parents, relatives and friends have the opportunity to visit patients undergoing full inpatient treatment for joint activities. The parents' café is held every Friday from 4.30 p.m. for parents of day-case patients to meet and chat. Admission to adolescent ward 2 is always preceded by a preliminary discussion in which treatment goals are agreed. Voluntary participation and motivation for treatment are prerequisites for treatment.

Children's day clinic

The day clinic for children offers 12 treatment places for children between the ages of 6 and 14. From Monday to Thursday, children are treated and cared for between 7.15 am and 4 pm and on Friday between 7.15 am and 2 pm. In principle, we offer day clinic treatment for all child and adolescent psychiatric disorders. In addition to the daily availability of treatment, the prerequisite is that there is no self-harming or other-harming behaviour.

Psychiatric and psychological diagnostics are carried out at the beginning of the day-care treatment programme. The therapy includes individual and family counselling as well as milieu therapy in a structured environment. If necessary, there is the option of pharmacological therapy. In addition, various other therapy programmes are offered on an individual basis (video interaction training, music therapy, occupational therapy, riding therapy). During partial inpatient treatment, schooling usually takes place in the hospital school, but a visit to the home school can also be useful and part of the treatment concept under certain circumstances.

The children are looked after in the day clinic from Monday to Friday during the day. As the children spend the night at home every day and also spend the weekends in their familiar home environment, the children's therapies and everyday life can be closely linked. The prerequisite for day clinic treatment is that the journey to and from the day clinic can either be managed independently or guaranteed by the carer. In exceptional cases, individual solutions can be found. A preliminary discussion usually takes place before admission. The participation of the legal guardians in family discussions and parent training is very important to us and is an important part of treatment.
