Clinic

The range of tasks of the University Clinic for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry/Psychotherapy includes regional care (Ulm and Alb-Danube district), supra-regional responsibility for rare and difficult-to-treat child and adolescent psychiatric disorders, participation in the psychiatric training of students and psychotherapy training for postgraduates as well as activities in various research areas. Children and adolescents with mental disorders receive inpatient treatment (31 beds), day-clinic treatment (18 treatment places) and outpatient treatment (institute outpatient clinic and university outpatient clinic).

All child and adolescent psychiatric disorders can be treated in our clinic, such as depression, anxiety, compulsions, borderline and other personality disorders, eating disorders, ADHD, social behaviour disorders, schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders. Outpatient and inpatient crisis interventions are also possible, for example in cases of acute suicidal behaviour.

The treatment concept is based on a systemic approach, i.e. in addition to the psychotherapeutic and psychiatric treatment of young patients, therapeutic work with families and carers is very important to us. Treatment takes place within a multi-professional team with extensive creative-therapeutic (music therapy, art therapy, occupational therapy, movement therapy) and educational (parental and educational counselling, experiential education) services. Pharmacotherapy can be part of the treatment if indicated. Attendance at the hospital school or work therapy is firmly integrated into the treatment concept as a rehabilitative approach.
