The Department of Forensic Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at Ulm University Hospital deals with the borderline area of child and adolescent psychiatry and psychotherapy and the justice system.
Our services include an expert opinion unit, a special consultation for children and adolescents with sexual problem behaviour and the possibility of presenting children and adolescents with aggressive and delinquent behaviour in connection with an existing child and adolescent psychiatric disorder for diagnostic clarification.
Sexualised or sexually abusive behaviour in children and adolescents is not a rare phenomenon. It is often associated with other behavioural problems, traumatic events or difficult life circumstances, but sometimes it also occurs temporarily during childhood or adolescent development. Sexualised or sexually abusive behaviour is often associated with far-reaching consequences, such as exclusion from kindergarten and school or criminal prosecution. The question of suitable accommodation often also arises. As part of our consultation hours, we offer children and adolescents with problematic sexual behaviour and their families or caregivers a comprehensive range of child and adolescent psychiatric diagnostics and advice on treatment options and support services.

The assessment of children, adolescents and young adults places special and complex demands on experts. In addition to sound knowledge of the relevant legal principles, developmental psychology, neurology and psychopathology play a particularly important role in the assessment of minors and young adults. The Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry/Psychotherapy at Ulm University Hospital has many years of clinical and scientific expertise in the provision of expert reports and forensic issues and would therefore like to do more justice to the growing importance of forensic issues and the desire for comprehensible quality in the assessment of children, adolescents and young adults.
The focus is on the area of criminal law, in particular we provide expert opinions on questions of criminal maturity in accordance with the JGG, culpability and prognosis.
Clients for expert reports can be courts, public prosecutors or authorities. We do not provide expert opinions on behalf of private individuals. Expert opinions are invoiced in accordance with the JVEG (Judicial Remuneration and Compensation Act) at the expense of the client.
