FAQ
We recommend that you go for a bowel screening.
From the age of 50, statutory health insurance covers the costs of the annual stool test for hidden blood and a rectal examination.
From the age of 55, a colonoscopy is paid for as a preventive measure, and even earlier for genetically predisposed patients.
The following symptoms should prompt you to consult a specialist:
- Blood in the stool
- Changes in bowel habits such as constipation, diarrhoea
- Pain in the abdomen or during bowel movements
- Unclear weight loss, drop in performance
- Fever in conjunction with abdominal pain
- Unclear anaemia, pallor
.
After a referral from your GP to our outpatient clinic, all necessary examinations are carried out promptly.
The most important examination is an endoscopy of the large intestine.
This allows changes in the tissue to be recognised and, if possible, already removed.
Tissue samples are then analysed in our pathology department. This allows us to determine whether the disease is benign or malignant.
