Field of activity
IT specialists specialising in system integration plan and configure IT systems. As an in-house service provider, they set up and operate these systems according to requirements. This also includes systematically isolating and rectifying faults that occur using modern expert and diagnostic systems. They solve application and system problems. Their tasks also include selecting system components to ensure smooth operation. In addition, they create system documentation and carry out training courses.

Their training follows the principle of the dual vocational training system, i.e. the trainee learns both in the training company and at vocational school.
Practical assignments
You will mainly work in the IT Service team at the Centre for Information and Communication. You will familiarise yourself with the following IT areas:

Field of activity
As a warehouse logistics specialist, you will be involved in logistical planning and organisation processes, i.e. you will receive, transport, pack and package goods. You will also store goods according to economic criteria and in compliance with warehouse regulations. Other tasks of our warehouse logistics specialists include carrying out stock checks, creating loading lists and processing shipping and accompanying documents. Knowledge of the principles of occupational safety, environmental protection and the economical use of energy is essential for your daily work. You will also be able to use company information and communication systems safely and work in a team and customer-orientated manner.

Concept and objectives
Computer science is characterised by rapid development and represents the key technology of the future. The aim is to develop cross-software and cross-hardware solutions to operational problems using engineering methods. In addition to acquiring specialised knowledge, it is important for a computer scientist to acquire additional qualifications in the areas of basic business knowledge, communication and customer orientation. The focus of the programme is the development of new products from a technical and business perspective. During their studies, students also learn the skills to precisely record and document customer requirements and to present systems and products in a target group-orientated manner. Project work is taught both in theory and in practice during the programme.
Practical assignments
During the practical phases, students are assigned to the Centre for Information and Communication (ZIK). Here they gain an insight into the various subject areas of hospital IT.

Concept and objectives
The healthcare market is characterised by a high degree of dynamism and therefore requires planned and forward-looking management. The Healthcare Management degree programme is designed to prepare you to take on complex, responsible management tasks. In addition to the general business management lectures, the programme includes two specialisation subjects that are tailored to the requirements of the healthcare industry:
- Hospital Management: This subject includes lectures such as Introduction to Hospital Management, Hospital Finance and Accounting, Controlling/Human Resources Management in Hospitals, Medical Controlling, Facility Management, Strategic Hospital Management.
- Health Care Management: In this subject, students gain in-depth insights into other areas of the healthcare industry such as pharmacies, doctors' surgeries, medical supply stores, health insurance companies, pharmaceutical manufacturers, laboratories, dental manufacturers, medical technology manufacturers etc. Questions of health economics are also dealt with comprehensively.

Would you like to complete a degree programme after graduating from high school and still gain practical experience? Then a dual study programme could be just right for you!
Information about the dual study programme
- Theoretical and practical phases alternate. During the theoretical phases, you will attend lectures at the respective Cooperative State University (DHBW). The practical phases at Ulm University Hospital teach practical content and take place in various departments.
- The regular alternation between theory and practice makes the three-year degree programme varied and diverse. The intensive study programme requires commitment and efficient time management.
- All DHBW degree programmes have been successfully accredited by the Central Evaluation and Accreditation Agency (ZEvA) and awarded 210 ECTS points as intensive degree programmes. This allows you to take up a postgraduate or Master's degree programme in Germany or abroad.
- During the programme, you will complete two written projects and a Bachelor's thesis at the end.
The following requirements apply for studying at the Cooperative State University:
- You have a general higher education entrance qualification or a subject-specific higher education entrance qualification corresponding to the faculty.
- Admission is also possible with a previous qualification recognised as equivalent (admission of particularly qualified professionals).
- Applicants with an entrance qualification for universities of applied sciences may be admitted to the programme if they have proven their particular aptitude for studying at a Cooperative State University in individual cases.
- Conclusion of a study and training contract with a company authorised by the Cooperative State University or a social institution such as Ulm University Hospital.
With our one-year commercial trainee programme in the healthcare sector, as a university graduate with a Master's degree, you can get to know Ulm University Hospital and the various areas of responsibility in the hospital administration of a maximum care hospital. In addition to personal development opportunities, the trainee programme prepares you for future management activities in middle and upper management.
Duration of the trainee programme
As a commercial trainee, you will spend 12 months familiarising yourself with various areas of hospital administration at Ulm University Hospital.

You can start the trainee programme on 01.04. or 01.10.
Structure of the trainee programme
In the first quarter of the programme, you will be deployed at short intervals in a wide variety of areas, including to gain an insight into the day-to-day work of other professional groups. These can be in detail

You will then be assigned to three main areas in the hospital administration for 3 months each to familiarise yourself with the structures and processes:

The programme schedule and the corresponding assignment periods are agreed jointly.
Support during the trainee programme
You will be supported by a mentor throughout the entire trainee programme and directly by the respective department head for the duration of your assignment in the various business units. The head of department will meet with you regularly and at the end of your assignment to provide you with feedback on your performance and to give you feedback on your assignment and the mentoring.
Prospects at the end of the trainee programme
After approx. 9 months on the trainee programme, a member of the hospital management board will discuss with you the possibility of a permanent employment contract.
