The working group was founded to deepen knowledge about the development, diagnosis and treatment of bone tumours.

The aim is to improve and promote interdisciplinary cooperation between orthopaedic surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, radiation oncologists and oncologists.
Case discussions are held regularly and the working group discusses scientific findings from bone tumour research or related fields at its meetings, initiates seminars on bone tumours and promotes interdisciplinary contacts with all disciplines of medicine and natural sciences that deal with bone tumour problems.

The Bone Tumour Working Group is a member of the umbrella organisation of the German-speaking scientific societies for osteology (DVO).

Members include Prof Barth, Institute of Pathology and Dr von Baer, Trauma Surgery at Ulm University Hospital
