Children are not small adults. This motto applies in particular to the diagnosis and treatment of diseases in children and adolescents. Paediatric radiology covers all types of image-based examinations - from ultrasound and X-ray to CT and MRI - from premature babies to adults.
Paediatric diseases require very specialised knowledge as well as special technical equipment in order to quickly and comprehensively understand what is causing the symptoms of the disease. Radiation protection is of crucial importance here.
Our team has many years of experience in paediatric radiological diagnostics and uses the latest child-friendly equipment to carry out examinations with particular empathy for children and their parents.
In the last two years, both the X-ray equipment and the CT machine have been modernised. This enables optimum image quality with the lowest possible radiation dose. The MRI is equipped with special hardware and software, and in cooperation with the anaesthesia team, even the smallest children can be gently examined in the MRI.
The basic idea of radiology, to make images speak, is more relevant than ever in view of this highly specialised imaging. Numerous interdisciplinary meetings serve the rapid exchange between paediatric radiology, paediatric clinic, paediatric surgery, paediatric urology and paediatric neurosurgery, to name just a few of the disciplines involved.
