Our patients with snoring and sleep breathing disordersare integrated into a comprehensive interdisciplinary diagnostic and treatment concept. We follow the guidelines of the German Society for Sleep Medicine (DGSM), according to whose specifications our sleep laboratory is also accredited.
The assessment of night-time sleep is carried out in our sleep laboratory using so-called polysomnography ("sleep analysis"). During the night of measurement, important parameters such as blood pressure, heart rate, nocturnal oxygen saturation, breathing pauses and sleep stages are recorded using EEG and the findings are then analysed for the presence of a sleep-related breathing disorder.
At our clinic, the ENT aspects of sleep medicine are closely linked with the therapeutic options of internal medicine, neurology and psychiatry and oral surgery and orthopaedics.
In addition to all classic surgical procedures such as tightening of the soft palate combined with tonsillectomy, we also offer modern therapeutic procedures such as the so-called tongue pacemaker(Inspire®). This fully implantable system stimulates certain muscles in the throat and thus keeps the airways open.
If necessary, we also initiate respiratory therapy with a sleep mask (CPAP/APAP therapy) or therapy using a mandibular advancement splint.
If you have already been fitted with a breathing mask in a sleep laboratory near your home and are unable to cope with it, you are welcome to come to us for a consultation.
We will be happy to carry out a video sleep endoscopy on you and advise you on alternative sleep medicine therapy options such as the implantation of a tongue pacemaker.
