Section Phoniatrics and Paediatric Audiology

The Section for Phoniatrics and Paediatric Audiology offers comprehensive medical diagnostics for the following disorders: Speech and language disorders (children and adults), hearing disorders in children, cochlear implantation (CI), voice disorders as well as neurological and oncological dysphagia (swallowing consultation). Psychological assessment and advice is also provided for speech and voice disorders, stuttering, stammering, learning, performance and behavioural disorders, functional and psychogenic voice disorders as well as somato-form clinical pictures from the specialist area.

Standardised test procedures are used for all forms of speech development disorders. One focus of the section is the treatment of children with therapy-resistant disorders of spoken and written language acquisition as well as central auditory processing and perception disorders.

The paediatric audiometric range of services includes all standard procedures for the subjective and objective determination of hearing thresholds from infancy onwards, including a test battery for the assessment of central auditory hearing disorders in older children.

Treatment in our department usually takes place following a referral from a specialist. Please first register yourself or your child at the outpatient clinic of the ENT clinic and then go to the waiting area of our department.
