Dental prosthetics

Consultation hours: By appointment (only from Monday to Friday 08:00 - 11:00)

Telephone: 0731 500 64222

New or referred patients are generally admitted via the outpatient clinic. Please always make an appointment by telephone - this is the only way to minimise waiting times.

Please bring the following documents with you:

  • Insurance card
  • bonus booklet
  • Diagnostic documents (e.g. current x-rays or models), if you have them.

Consultation hours: By appointment

Telephone: 0731 500 64222

  • You will be admitted for dental treatment after your appointment in the outpatient clinic.
  • Individualised diagnostics (production of dental models) and pre-treatment (e.g. professional teeth cleaning) are required for the provision of dentures.
  • After a comprehensive assessment of the prosthetic findings, including photos, planning models and any missing x-rays, all the data collected is analysed in consultation with a supervisor using the dual control principle, followed by a treatment proposal and the preparation of a cost estimate / treatment and cost plan.
  • Once the pre-treatment has been completed, the definitive prosthetic treatment can begin.
  • You have the option of being treated by specialised dentists at the Clinic for Dental Prosthetics. Individual treatment planning can take several appointments and is carried out after detailed clinical findings and model and X-ray analyses.
  • However, the time invested pays off, as the treatment planning represents a personalised approach to treatment and appointment scheduling.

Office hours: Only during the semester (November to February and May to July)

General information on student treatment

From the 7th semester onwards, students treat their own patients under the guidance and supervision of experienced dentists after three years of theoretical and practical preparation in the dentistry programme.

The degree programme in dentistry is divided into a pre-clinical and a clinical section. The degree programme lasts a total of 10 semesters and ends with the state examination. After passing the "Physikum" (preliminary dental examination), students switch from the pre-clinical to the clinical section.
Clinical section:
6th semester = 1st clinical semester - phantom course in tooth preservation
7th semester = 2nd clinical semester - treatment course in tooth preservation I
8th semester = 3rd clinical semester - treatment course in tooth preservation I Clinical semester - Prosthodontics I treatment course
9th semester = 4th clinical semester - Prosthodontics II treatment course
10th semester = 5th clinical semester - Prosthodontics II treatment course
State examination (dental examination)

Treatment courses in dental prosthetics in the 8th and 9th semesters

  • Course contents in dental prosthetics are:
  • Fixed dentures, e.g. crowns and bridges (metal and ceramic)
  • Removable dentures, e.g. transitional (interim) or complete dentures
  • Combined fixed-removable dentures, e.g. telescopic dentures
  • Bite splints/grinding splints
  • Long-term temporaries

In the student course, the above-mentioned prosthetic rehabilitations are carried out at the highest level.
If you have not yet been to the dental clinic and would like treatment in one of our clinical student courses, please first make an appointment in our outpatient clinic. This is where a preliminary decision is made as to whether your treatment is appropriate for the student course. You will then be registered for the student course.

Your contribution:
You should bring time and patience with you, both in terms of the number and duration of appointments, as the students are not yet very experienced and every important step is checked by qualified dentists.

Your advantages:

  • Very personalised advice and support
  • Multiple checks by two students and qualified dentists
  • Final submission/final check of the finished work by a senior dentist
  • and/or by the head of department
  • Application of the latest and recognised scientific findings
  • Significant cost savings

One request:
In the interests of the overall organisation for you and other patients, it is important that you come to the dental clinic on time for treatment or cancel in good time (at least the day before) if you are unable to keep an appointment. Irregularities can jeopardise both the success of the treatment and the success of the student's course.

Procedure:
Every first treatment begins with a professional tooth cleaning and a detailed examination of the oral cavity (prosthetic findings). It is then determined which further treatment steps are necessary and whether these can be carried out by students. Unfortunately, treatment by students is not possible for every patient, e.g. for medical reasons.

Unless otherwise agreed, please allow a whole morning or afternoon for each treatment appointment (treatment times: Mon 7:30-11:30, Thu: 13:30-17:00, Fri 7:30-11:30). Complex treatments can extend over both clinical treatment courses. The period of the semester holidays is bridged with temporary treatments. If you have any problems, you can contact our outpatient clinic (please corresponding consultation hours please note the corresponding office hours) and make an appointment. Individual aftercare will continue as part of the student course and the outpatient clinic.
Part of the costs will be waived as an expense allowance.

Admission to the treatment course or the exam is also possible during the current semester. However, due to limited capacity, it cannot be guaranteed that you will receive an appointment immediately. Your treatment may not begin until the following semester or the exam.

The above-mentioned examination is the final examination in dentistry. A small crown or bridge restoration and a removable denture are completed within 2 weeks under special financial conditions. This fast dental treatment requires increased flexibility on the part of the patient within this period.

We look forward to welcoming you to our student courses.

Special consultation hours

Treatment with dental implants is often part of a comprehensive therapy concept.

The implant consultation takes place by individual appointment on Mondays from 17:00 - 18:30.

If you are already being treated by us, please speak to our dentists directly during your treatment.

If you have not yet been treated at the Clinic for Dental Prosthetics and you do not have current treatment records (x-rays, digital volume tomogram), please contact the central appointment centre or make an appointment during the private and senior consultation hours.

If you already have up-to-date treatment records (X-rays, digital volume tomogram) or if you have problems with existing implants, please make an appointment with the private and senior consultation.
