Project description
The Braunschweig Child Protection Platform provides access to specialist information, services and up-to-date knowledge on child protection (especially for the Braunschweig/Lower Saxony area) at any time and in a collective form for professionals from various disciplines, interested citizens and those affected, as well as a flexibly customisable and free online course on child protection for all professionals nationwide.
The platform is made up as follows:
- Information module
The information module is freely accessible and provides contact points for acute cases, a list of the child protection landscape in the city of Braunschweig as well as information, materials and news on the topic of child protection for all interested parties.
- Training module
The further training module contains a free online course entitled "Basic knowledge of child protection for professionals", for which registration is required, as well as information on other online courses on the topic of child protection.
The online course has a modular structure and comprises around 40 hours of background information on child protection and the various forms of abuse, specific steps to take in (suspected) cases and legal principles. All professionals are obliged to protect children and young people from violence, abuse and neglect. Nevertheless, in every case, a balance must be struck between the duty of confidentiality and the duty to protect the welfare of the child.
Qualified child protection requires all those involved to be confident in their actions. In order to establish a "common language" for child protection and thus increase awareness and expertise in child protection among all stakeholders and better protect children and young people, the Braunschweig Child Protection Platform is being established as an information and training platform for professionals from various disciplines, interested citizens and those affected.
