Project description
The aim of the project is to develop a needs-orientated, meaningful and practical tool for the assessment and documentation of (impending) participation impairments in children and young people.
In close cooperation with six youth welfare offices, an online-based assessment tool is being developed and tested and evaluated in the regular operations of these youth welfare offices in the area of integration assistance for children and young people who are at risk of or affected by mental disabilities (Section 35a SGB VIII). The instrument is intended to provide an opportunity for the socio-educational context to map the diversity of relevant participation dimensions and to record resources and barriers in the living environment of children/young people. A systematic and participatory assessment should contribute to quality assurance, promote transparency and traceability for all those involved and support the individualisation of support planning.
In the first phase of the project, a concept for an online-based instrument for assessing (impending) impairments of participation will be developed on the basis of internationally available instruments and field research in the six participating youth welfare offices (expert interviews, analysis of already completed cases), which will be discussed and further developed in development workshops with socio-educational specialists.
In the second phase of the project, this assessment tool will be tested and evaluated in a six-month pilot phase in the participating youth welfare offices. Staff will be surveyed on the practical suitability of the tool in order to determine quality characteristics. In addition, further data surveys and interviews with children/young people and their families will be conducted to test the validity and reliability of the instrument.
In the third phase of the project, an e-learning platform with training materials will be developed to disseminate the procedure.
