Project description
Parents with an addiction are often limited in their parenting and relationship skills, so that their behaviour can be mapped on a continuum from very good to extremely dangerous behaviour. In cases of child endangerment in families with addiction problems, interdisciplinary support and care is required from addiction support workers and child and youth welfare workers.
The aim of the project is to develop an internet-based training module for the assessment of parental parenting skills as well as stress and possible (developmental) risks for children from families with addiction problems. The training is designed as a blended-learning course with two face-to-face days and an online module. The online module is based on the content of the e-learning course "Early help and early interventions in child protection". During the face-to-face days, the training content is expanded to include older children and young people.
Practical partners are continuously involved in the development of the training programme. Four addiction support centres have been acquired as cooperation partners for this purpose. Round tables are organised at the four locations with representatives from addiction support, child and youth welfare and the medical sector. The information gained in dialogue with the practice partners and during the trial training will be integrated into the development and improvement of the training. At the end of the project, a handbook will be published to disseminate the training content. The results of the project will be presented to all those involved in the project (participating addiction support centres and their cooperation partners, training participants) at a closing event and to the public at a press event.
