Project description

Bullying is a form of violence characterised by repeated aggressive behaviour and an unequal balance of power between the people involved. The effects of bullying experiences at school on the mental health of students in particular have only begun to be investigated in recent years. In the psychosocial and psychotherapeutic counselling centres of student services and universities in Germany, many students report having experienced bullying in their childhood and youth. However, there has not yet been a systematic study of how these experiences affect the mental health of students in Germany. The aim of the project is therefore to investigate the long-term consequences of bullying in a school context on the mental health of students using a population of students in psychosocial and psychotherapeutic counselling centres (PBS). The presence of current bullying experiences and other previous experiences of victimisation will also be taken into account.

The survey will be conducted using an online questionnaire with students who visit the psychotherapeutic and psychosocial counselling centres (PBS). Information about the study will be provided on site by the counsellors at the PBS. Participation in the study is voluntary.
