Fusion sonography

Fusion imaging is an imaging technique in which the images from a previous CT (or MRI) examination can be read into the ultrasound device and coupled with the ultrasound image in such a way that a corresponding CT image can be displayed for each setting of the ultrasound probe. These images can also be projected on top of each other to enable a direct comparison. This makes it possible to combine the advantages of ultrasound examinations (e.g. good assessment of blood flow in an organ or blood flow in a vessel) with those of CT (e.g. high spatial resolution).
