For the children of employees of Ulm University Hospital and the Faculty of Medicine, a holiday programme for children from school age will take place in 2024 in cooperation with Ulm University during the Easter and summer holidays.

The University Hospital and the Faculty of Medicine are also planning to offer a number of places in the Ruhetal during the Whitsun and summer holidays for children aged 7 to 14. However, the prerequisite for this is that the Protestant parish of Ulm provides us with a number of places, as it did last year. Unfortunately, more details are not yet known at this time (10.01.2024). As soon as further information is available, we will publish it here.

In the meantime (as of 12.02.2024), the Protestant parish of Ulm has informed us that places can be made available again for our employees during the Whitsun and summer holidays in 2024. Further information can be found under the following tab "Rest holiday".

Please note that there may be changes to the programme. Changes or programme cancellations can therefore unfortunately not be ruled out.

The following programmes are planned in cooperation with the university:

Spring
  • Spring Science Camp (02.-05.04.2024) 5th and 6th grade
Summer holidays
  • Summer Science Camp (29.07.-02.08.2024) 5th and 6th grade
  • Advanced Summer Science Camp (29.07.-02.08.2024) 7th and 8th grade

The above-mentioned holiday camps take place on the Oberer Eselsberg campus.

Further details and registration: see university homepage

Whether and to what extent the University Hospital Ulm and the Medical Faculty of the University of Ulm can again receive a quota of places for children aged 7-14 years for the rest camps in the Whitsun and summer holidays in 2024 has unfortunately not yet been finalised at the present time (10.01.2024).

Further information will be published here as soon as more details are known.

Registration for the Science Camps atUlm University (from year 5) is required from 15 January 2024, 09:00 directly via the university's homepage.

The registration start date for the Quiet Time Camp is 20 February 2024, 09:00.

Registration is required by e-mail to Dr Knipper-Willmann.

Please state the following:

1. first and surname of the child

2. date of birth of the child

3. personnel number and name of the parent who works at the clinic/faculty of medicine

4. Desired leisure time period in the Whitsun and summer holidays (leisure time period in the summer holidays can only be booked as a 2-week period)

After Dr Knipper-Willmann has confirmed your place , you will still need to register online via the Ruhetal homepage (in the period from 11.03.-24.03.2024), but with the knowledge that a place is already guaranteed thanks to the cooperation.

Unfortunately, the provider of the Rest Valley holidays can only provide us with a limited number of places, so that, as experience in previous years has shown, we will probably not be able to cover all requests. If a family does not receive a place via the University Hospital/Faculty of Medicine's quota of places, it is also possible to register children for the holiday camps directly via the Ruhetal.

Please note that the available places will be allocated in the order in which registrations are received. Registrations submitted before the deadline cannot be considered.

Tax and social security obligations

The University Hospital Ulm and the Faculty of Medicine offer a holiday programme for children on several weeks to improve the compatibility of work and family life and cover part of the costs.

This subsidy is already deducted from the parental contributions mentioned on these pages or flows into the "purchase" of a place at the Ruhetal and does not lead to a reduction in the parental contribution.

Employer subsidies paid to employees for holiday childcare for school-age children constitute a non-cash benefit and are therefore taken into account both when calculating your social security contributions and when calculating income tax in your pay slip.

Tax liability
The allowance granted increases your taxable gross pay and is included in full in the tax calculation depending on your individual income tax class if the monthly exemption limit (€50 in 2024) is exceeded. Other non-cash benefits granted in the respective month must also be included in the monthly exemption limit.

Social security obligation
Your gross amount subject to social security contributions is increased by the allowance granted. The respective employer and employee contributions are then calculated on this basis.

Status: January 2024

The Stadtjugendring and the city of Ulm have summarised all non-commercial offers of the independent providers and the city of Ulm and put them online on a website. There are also other offers for children outside the University of Ulm.
