Parents suffering from addictive disorders are often limited in their child-rearing and relationship skills, so that their behavior can reach from very good to extremely dangerous. In cases of danger to the welfare of children in families with addiction problems, interdisciplinary support from employees of addiction aid as well as child and youth welfare services is required.
The aim of the project is to develop an internet-based training module for the assessment of parental child-rearing skills as well as the problems or potential (development) risks of children from families with addiction disorders. The training is designed as a blended-learning course with two days of face-to-face training and an online module. The online module uses the contents of the e-learning course "Early Help and Preventive Intervention for Child Protection". During the face-to-face workshop, the training contents are extended to older children and adolescents.

Description of the Project

Partners doing practical work in the field are continuously involved in the development of the training. For this purpose, we managed to recruit four addiction aid facilities as cooperation partners. Round tables are held at the four institutions with representatives of the field of addiction aid, child and youth welfare and the medical sector. The information gained in exchange with these partners and during the trial training will be integrated into the development and improvement of the training. At the end of the project, a handbook on dissemination of the course content will be published. The results of the project will be presented to all those involved in the project (participating addiction aid facilities and their cooperation partners, training participants) as well as to the public at a press conference.
