Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
On Monday, June 24th 2019 we will have a very interesting guest speaker at the HEIST WiKo (17:00, H10 in M24).
Prof. Dr. Cornelis J.M. Melief (Emeritus of the University of Leiden, Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer of ISA-Pharmaceuticals) will talk about "Combination immunotherapy of cancers caused by high risk human papilloma virus".
Professor Melief has published >500 scientific articles (among others in Nature, Nature Reviews Cancer, NEJM, PNAS, Cancer Immunology Research, Clinical Cancer Researh). He has fundamentally contributed to our current understanding of cancer immunology and cancer immunotherapy.
One of his major contributions was the development of a therapeutic HPV-16 vaccine (synthetic long peptides) which has successfully been tested in clinical trials for cervical and oropharyngeal cancer.
In 2019, he received the Lloyd Old Award of the American Academy of Cancer Research (AACR) and in 2009 the William B. Coley Award of the Cancer Research Institute.
